Differences between NIST 800-171 and CMMC

Imprimis, Inc. (i2) is pleased to announce the i2 CMMC Webinar Channel, the goal of which is to offer an industry-focused, online educational resource that provides up-to-date and relevant cybersecurity information regarding the deployment of the CMMC standards and requirements. And on Wednesday July 22, 2020 at 10am (MDT) we will be continuing our i2 CMMC Webinar series with a session on the "Differences between NIST 800-171 and CMMC – the Value of Finishing NIST 800-171" Our presenters will be Michael Semments, (Imprimis), Matt Titcombe (Imprimis) and Dr. Richard H. "Doc" Klodnicki (Aereti).

Webinar Overview:

Many DoD contractors have reached out to Imprimis regarding the details of CMMC—specifically how they apply to their own business as well as the process for becoming compliant.  This has resulted in the Imprimis CMMC Webinar Series.  The Imprimis i2 CMMC Webinar Series seeks to provide as much information as possible on …
  • CMMC status and schedule of compliance, and;
  • The CMMC challenges, requirements, and approaches available to contractors.
The current DFARS require compliance with the NIST800-171 standard.  So, a reasonable question is how does CMMC relate to NIST800-171 and vice versa.  In our second webinar "Differences between NIST 800-171 and CMMC – the Value of Finishing NIST 800-171" we will be addressing the key differences between the existing DFARS NIST 800-171 compliance platform as it compares directly to the specified levels of the new CMMC standard.  Key controls, practices and levels will be addressed in detail and tips and techniques for preparing your company for these rigorous testing and auditing challenges will be offered.

The agenda for Imprimis CMMC Webinar #2 is as follows:
  1. Introductions
  2. CMMC Status and Activity
  3. CMMC and NIST800-171 – Overlap and differences
  4. Discussion of compliance Approaches
  5. Wrap and Announcement of Webinar #3.
  6. Adjourn
